Our Story
"Ostrich Out" took its first flight with a zesty LinkedIn message exchange between Urs, a Swiss sort of “retiree” who clearly missed the memo on aging, and Alex, the entrepreneurial maestro in sunny South Africa. Urs was on a quest for a project that could keep him on his toes, both socially and mentally, while Alex had his sights set on providing global street artists with a canvas for their dreams.
Urs, perhaps using the "project legitimacy check" as a sneaky passport to South Africa, soon found himself in the vibrant embrace of Cape Town. What did he discover? A whirlwind of social and economic impact that made him think, "I need to stick around!" So, he took on the role of Alex's Teams mentor and decided to put his rolodex to work. In the midst of their collaboration, they stumbled upon a gem of an idea - if one retiree could be a beacon of hope for a single organization, just imagine the unstoppable force when a troupe of retirees rallied together to make a difference in numerous organizations!
The adventure was just getting started!

Urs May
After two decades navigating the executive landscapes of very big big-corporations, 8 years leading M&A and restructuring projects and adding a touch of glam to his resume by birthing a beauty startup, his journey led him to the realm of social entrepreneurship, with the goal for a positive transformation of our world.
A little while back, it hit him like a gentle epiphany, that small organizations in developing markets were out there, waving their SOS flags, in search of some everyday heroes with expertise and knowledge. He realized he might just be their sidekick for development, and he's got a hunch there might be a whole bunch of other "Impactravelers" who can join the journey, cape or no cape!
Stationed in Switzerland, and when the snowy embrace of winter arrives, you'll likely find him carving through fresh powder with the exhilaration of a freerider.

Alexandre Tilmans
After an splendid 17-year journey as a financial director, the visionary co-creator of Africa's grandest International Public Art Festival, and a serial Start-up Founder (yes, even a beer brand!), Alexandre uncovered a pressing truth. It was a revelation that small and medium-sized companies were yearning for his blend of talents.
In recent years, he's been on a mission to redirect his prowess toward organizations that are changing the world for the better, providing the guidance and wisdom they need to flourish. Enabling the harmony of "Impact & Travel" has become his calling card, a topic he's utterly passionate about.
Alex is grounded in the vibrant realm of South Africa, and if the stars align on a sunny, breezy summer day, you'll probably find him riding the waves, chasing the thrill of the surf.
